Shooting with a wide angle lens can be a challenging task. People often make mistakes such as not having a clear subject focus, not having a clean background and trying to include everything in the frame. It’s hard to eliminate things that you don’t want since it’s a wide angle lens anyway! But the point in shooting with a wide angle lens is not to get everything in the picture.
The basic photography rule such as selecting the subject to focus on as well as setting the right exposure (shutter speed, aperture and ISO) still applies here. The rule of composition will be different here though since we are dealing with an entirely different kind lens. The subject to foreground perspective will change as well – this means that the subject will look more separated from the foreground compared to when you shoot with a telephoto lens. Also, you’ll be encountered with some distortion here at the edge of the frame. With that challenges, how do you get great pictures with wide angle lenses?
